Girls Varsity Soccer


2020 Spring Soccer Registration NOT YET open

Description: Varsity soccer is for home school girl grades 9-12 in the Richmond area. Exceptional younger players will be accepted on a case by case basis. Richmond Spirit Girls Varsity Soccer plays in the CCAC during the spring season.   

Location & Schedule: 

Practice: The Varsity team practices will start in Mid February at a location TBD and in March will be at Courthouse Park (7232 Courtland Farm Rd, Hanover VA 23069).  The game season begins the second week of March,

Practices will be from 4:00-6:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Games are typically Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during April and May. 

Home Games: Home games are held at Courthouse Park (7232 Courtland Farm Rd, Hanover VA 23069).

Away Games:  For away games, please see the "Locations - Varsity Soccer" option.

Coach- Phil Howard

As a father of soccer players and a player himself much of his life, Phil was looking for a Christian oriented soccer environment. Having coached with Dynamo, Upward, Victory Christian Academy High School he brings a significant amount of experience for the varsity team. Though an elderly couple once outran him using a walker, Phil brings an intensity, a goal of improvement, and a desire for buildings his faith and that of those around him.

Coach - Kevin Egan

Kevin is a soccer lifer. Playing began from walking until his mid-30s. Soon he began coaching his daughters and continues to do so.

Kevin and his wife Dana have been blessed with three beautiful, gifted, and amazing daughters.

He joined the family medical sales business 30 years ago and today, independently, with Egan Sales Associates and Acuity Medical.

Kevin also served for 13 years in Hanover Fire & EMS, earning Firefighter of the year in 2005 and finishing his career as District Chief of Station 10.

As a Deacon at Cool Spring Baptist Church, co-leader of their Prayer Ministry and a Teen Core Group Leader and Regional Director within CBS(Community Bible Study), he is passionate about sharing God’s word with teens and also serves as a High School(10th grade boys) leader at his church twice every week.


Coach - Shane Goins

Shane has been with Richmond Spirit (Warhawks) Soccer for over a decade, having last served as the Athletic Director and Boys Varsity coach for the 2017 fall season.

A father of five children all of whom have played for Spirit, he and his wife Wendy have enjoyed the community and family that Spirit has offered.

Shane and his wife are entrepreneurs running a cleaning service.

When not running their business or coaching soccer, Shane and his wife have served at Four Square Life Church on Staples Mill Road for over 20 years. During those 20 years they have had the privilege of ministering to children and youth both here in RVA and abroad. In ministering to children they have come to understand how important it is to partner with parents and families.
